the story:
Once apon a time, there was this junior monk in a rural temple. One day, the senior monk decided to expand the temple and tasked the junior monk to build a wall. This monk treated this task seriously and started building it, lay brick by brick… After a day of hardwork, he completed the wall. He happily rested on the grass and appreciates the wall.
Suddenly he spotted a brick in the middle of the wall was mis-aligned. He was angry, annoyed, cannot stand that single piece of brick being mis-aligned. He wanted perfection, and it bothers him so much that he wanted to tear down the entire wall and redo all over again.
Meanwhile the senior monk came and praised the junior monk for the great job done. But the junior monk complaint that there’s a mis-aligned brick in the center and he was very bothered by it as he thinks its a lousy work done. The senior monk take a closer look at the wall and said, “There are a hundred bricks in this wall and all are placed perfectly in position, well cemented, except for 1 brick. Why are u so bothered by that single brick? There are 99 perfectly done bricks. U have done a good job.”
interrupted by girl:
“i have this feelin that your little story might end up in my blog.. “
continue, sorry
the junior monk then started to appreciate the rest of the 99 perfect bricks. And realise that his wall is indeed a job well done. He felt happy and sense of satisfaction came in and he feels proud of the work done.
Explaination by Guy:
There are many things that we have in our life are wonderful, so much so that we just couldn’t stand a single imperfection in our life. And that imperfection bothers us so much that we have forgotten the rest of the wonderful and perfect things. Look around, appreciate what we have now..
